Fiddler Ed Pearlman is joined by his son Neil Pearlman on piano for an afternoon of fiddle and piano music from Scotland and Cape Breton.

Ed and Neil Pearlman

Ed and Neil Pearlman have toured the US, Canada, and overseas for over 15 years, and are based in the Portland area. Today’s concert will feature tunes built on the traditions of Scotland and Cape Breton, with contemporary influences.

Ed Pearlman draws on 40 years of playing for concerts, dances, classes and ceilidhs, teaching, promoting and writing about Scottish music.

He ran the Boston Scottish Fiddle Club and its associated events 1981-1999, as well as other camps and groups, served as music columnist for Scottish Life magazine for 24 years, and co-leads summer music and walking tours in Scotland.

Neil Pearlman is internationally known as an innovative pianist, immersed in the music of Scotland and Cape Breton. His unique style is enhanced in organic and thrilling ways by his deep knowledge of jazz, funk and other styles.

He is also a mandolinist and step dancer. Neil has performed solo, and has toured and recorded with others, including the well-known Shetland fiddler Kevin Henderson, the Katie McNally Trio, and the quartet Fàrsan.
