The Back Cove Contemporary Music Festival showcases new chamber music.

Established in 2009, the festival presents contemporary chamber music by composers from northern New England, many of whom attend the event and discuss their pieces being performed. The festival is held biennially.

It features performances by some of Maine’s top musicians and is an important showcase for new concert music in Maine.

On hiatus in 2019, the festival’s plans to return in the fall of 2020 unfortunately had to be cancelled because of the coronavirus.

Concert Benefits Back Cove Festival

Elliott Schwartz

On January 18, 2020, at 7:00 pm, we celebrated the life of Maine composer, lecturer and author Elliott Schwartz.

The concert featured performances of nine compositions played on the Conservatory’s studio pianos, including our Steinway partner pianos.
