The Back Cove Contemporary Music Festival showcases new chamber music.
Established in 2009, the festival presents contemporary chamber music by composers from northern New England, many of whom attend the event and discuss their pieces being performed.
It features performances by some of Maine’s top musicians and is an important showcase for new concert music in Maine.
On hiatus in 2019, the festival will return in the fall of 2020 and subsequently be held biennially. To get a preview of the future Back Cove Festival, join us at the Elliott Schwartz benefit concert noted below and sample outstanding compositions of contemporary music.
Concert Benefits Back Cove Festival
On January 18, 2020, at 7 pm, we’ll be celebrating the life of Maine composer, lecturer and author Elliott Schwartz.
The concert will feature performances of nine compositions played on the Conservatory’s studio pianos, including our Steinway partner pianos.
