Sarah Liv Skaarland Lane, Piano Faculty
Sarah is an energetic and committed Suzuki piano teacher, with a desire to reach every child with the joys of classical music. Born in Colombia and raised in upstate New York, She took lessons with two excellent piano teachers who inspired and motivated her. At the age of ten, Sarah realized that someday, she too would like to be a Suzuki piano teacher. After eight years in Chicago, Sarah and her husband moved to Maine in February 2018 in pursuit of a slower way of life and a place to settle and raise a family.
Sarah completed her Bachelor of Arts in Ethnomusicology with a piano emphasis in Chicago, Illinois. She took her “Every Child Can” course in Illinois with Dr. Tanya Carey, and received her Suzuki book training at Holy Names University in Oakland, CA, studying under Caroline Fraser. She is passionate about using the Suzuki Method to educate the next generation of classically trained musicians.
Since Sarah is a newcomer to Maine, she still holds her professional memberships in the state of Illinois; she’s a member of the Suzuki Association of the Americas, the Music Teacher’s National Association (MTNA), Chicago Area Music Teacher Association (CAMTA), and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra’s Latino Alliance.
