Heidi Modr, Violin and Voice
Heidi Modr is a native Mainer and was brought up in a musical family. She studied with many wonderful violinists in Maine before going to Oberlin Conservatory where she received a Bachelor of Music in Violin performance. While at Oberlin, she also enjoyed studying violin pedagogy.
Heidi met Dorothy Delay at the Aspen Summer Music School and continued studying with her at the Juilliard School where she received an Advanced Certificate post graduate degree in violin performance. She stayed in New York for many years after graduating doing solo, chamber and orchestral performances and has two favorable New York Times reviews for solo performances.
Heidi has always enjoyed teaching and is greatly rewarded by the happiness and success of her students. In New York she taught at the Bloomingdale School of Music and Concordia Conservatory. In the Netherlands, she started the Allegro Music School and taught orchestral studies at the International School of the Hague.
Having recently moved back to America, Heidi has been implementing an orchestral program at a private boarding school in California. Heidi is excited to be back in Maine and is looking very much forward to being part of the musical community in the Portland area.
She is committed to bringing out the very best in every student musically, technically and joyfully.
